Dealing with a post baby body

In the world of celebrity, there's personal chefs and trainers, nannies and when all else fails, surgeons. In reality, either you have the great ability to snap back or you have me. I have heard endless "wow you look good man, back to you old self," but.....not quite. I am indeed back to my pre-baby weight however things aren't quite the same. While I was really huge throughout my pregnancy, it was all concentrated in my belly. I wore all my clothes right up to the end as long as it could open up in the tummy area. But my munchkin was 8lbs 13oz and everybody thought she would be even bigger. You don't wanna know what that's like when baby is pulled out...

Former playboy bunny Kendra shows off her post-baby body in US magazine:

kendra

....looking pretty....shopped....especially since this clip shows a realer story:

At about the 28 second mark you can see a different view of Kendra's belly. Maybe the picture is after she had surgery though as she admitted in the article she would. (Or maybe it was her workout? *snickers*) Dealing with my own pouch, I can't say I blame her. Coming from playboy status to a belly must be hard on the self esteem, especially in her...industry...and with skinny womenfolk throwing themselves at her NFL hubby left, right and center.

The last time I was "skinny" was when I was 11. I've had the usual body image issues ever since my teenage years and consequential love-hate relationship with the gym. But girl this belly and these darn stretch marks! The marks I can live with, I'm seriously not that vain and if thats my only complaint then I'll take it because so many out there aren't able to even birth children, I hate to seem petty. But this belly. All my jeans still fit, but if I zip them up I can't breathe. If I don a dress, I look preggers. *sigh* Control under-garments are now a girl's best friend but by the end of the day I am READY to just rip them off. I hear all the cries of "it took 9 months to put it on...but as with the rest of the world I am rather impatient to get it off! If I had Kendra's money I'd prolly do surgery but alas...I must rekindle my affair with the gym and see if we can work it out.

What did you do? How did you make out with your own post baby body, what do you suggest I try? I'm still nursing so no drastic diets pls :)

  1. Hi, just came across your blog while reading up on weight loss after having a baby. I'm a first time mom to a baby that's almost 10 months old. I still have a stubborn 10lbs. to lose! More than the weight, I have flab around my tummy and of course the stretch marks that are a constant reminder of a body forever changed after bearing a child. I agree with you...We shouldn't be so petty, but can we help not wanting our figure back?
I think the only way to lose the last 10 lbs. and tone up is to exercise...So, I will start running again and eat healthier. I'm sure the weight will just disappear once I start back at work again too.

  2. keep your spirits up pretty momma. you are beautiful inside and out...don't you forget it.

the best way to attack the gym is with an accountability partner. it makes everything a lot more palatable. start with 2-3 days per week and see where it goes. mini goals first and then work on the bigger ones after.

  3. My daughter is three and the last time I was skinny, was also 11 y-o. I'm not sure what it was but I contributed all my post baby weight loss to breastfeeding. I came down to 138lbs. when I usually juggle 150 - 170 lbs. The gym.....no luxury. As soon as my stitches were out and I could safely do so I got addicted to the ABS section of the Gilad Exercise DVD [http://www.bodiesinmotionwithgilad.com/]. I ate no differently. As soon as I stopped breast feeding, and stopped exercsising, alas, I was immediately back to juggle 150 - 170 lbs. Are you strictly breastfeeding? Or are you swapping with formula?
