Shoes that make him go...

Shut the door! Every girl got a pair of f*ck me pumps and hooker heels right? Right. You slip those bad boys on and you feel like superwoman, ready to take over the world. Your walk is different, your swag is different, its on and poppin... and if he's around when you slip them on...he might just tell you to shut the door...

This sparkly number was surprisingly my last pair.  A quick, last minute purchase to complete an outfit without going boring black. Unfortunately, they're turning out to be a one time wear since I lost the strap for the right foot...yeah...don't ask.

Just one more! Help me choose!

Now that the spending season is winding to a close and the season of saving is beginning, I wanna get myself one last little morsel. My wishlist is chock full of amazing shoes that I didn't manage to get myself and I still want them all! But I can't be frivolous. 2011 is a big year and I must start saving now. Must.

But look at all the pretty shoes! I'm gonna get myself one final pair...which do you like best?

You'll notice there are two brown pumps there...I really want a brown/nude coloured shoes but I'm not sure which one of these two are hotter. HELP! Which do you like best?

NYE outfit conundrum

What oh what am I to wear? Like every year except the last one when i was 8 months preggers and bundled up i winter gear, I am heading out to enjoy my NYE guzzling champagne and hugging up my friends. I bought a whole lot of clothes this season...none NYE worthy...oh what oh what am I going to do!

A friend of mine who selling some stuff brought this for me to try but it was just a tad too small...I shoulda went on the hollywood juice diet or something...isnt it cute? It looks so much better on...me...cus I have boobs. She was selling the white.

Trends this Christmas - Animal Print

Last night was my office party and I decided to rock animal print since its trending this season. I knew it was a risk because the theme of the party was silver and black and when you go with trends, the chances are greater that someone will be in the same thing as you. Narrow it further with a theme and you're asking for trouble. But I found this dress online and I fell in love with it and decided to rock it anyway.

Tifa and Lexx in all grey everything

Snagged from Tifa's facebook page...

At least I think thats grey...that's grey right? Anyhoo...I like it. aside from the high top and ridic shades, at night no less, that Mr. Lexx is sporting...this is a cute pic.

The blazer is embellished so you'd think the necklace might be too much but all the hardware works here. I even like the wig. Its a very toned down look for Tifa and I think thats why I love it so much. *thumbs up*

A Belle Birthday dress?

Tami and Lubica
Allow me to be a bad fashion blogger as I really don't know the story behind this line. Mommy duties were in full force last night when the Belle launch was happening. Its another line by Tami Chynn and Lubica, but I can't tell you how it differs from Anuna since I missed the launch. However I came across a pic that is inspiring me to go check out the line. Its coming close to the birthday and so I may not be able to shop online and ship and risk it not getting here in time. I'm really going to have to find something in Jamaica to wear. Remember, I bought blue shoes to wear. I think it may go well with this dress:

Being a Fashionista

rih

Pic source

I dunno exactly when the term "fashionista" was coined but I found quite a few definitions floating around. Simply put, a fashionista is a follower of fashion trends. Someone who keeps up with what's current and displays a unique style with every outfit. Its not necessarily the person rocking all the trends, its the person who is able to do so while being unique and interesting each time with whatever piece they're presented with. Keeping true to the trends might result in you looking like a copy cat of everyone out there or might result in a total fail if you're not quite sure how to spin you're own style on it and make it work for your body. Fashion is a reflection of the trends, style is a reflection of you, a fashionista knows how to blend the two.

With all that said, I was browsing FashionBombDaily recently and saw persons tearing down the writer's choice for "Fashion Bomb of the day" saying her clothes looked cheap as if they were from Rainbow and other affordable stores in the US. I can guarantee you that I can go to the Salvation Army, look thru their donations and pick out a "fashionable" outfit. You and I both know that high price does not equal high style, let us not get this twisted! Accessories play such a big part as well, it can make a mundane, "cheap" or everyday outfit really pop.

Remember this? FOS Flashback

diaper girl

Y'all remember this pic? It was EPIC! It was a part of a regular feature I used to do called "Outta Street" on Fashion Over Style and got so many comments! I have been trying to figure out how to upload my old website to this one but unfortunately it doesn't look like I saved it in the right format so 2 years worth of fashion news, interviews, shows and all around content is sitting low on my lappy kinda like a *looks on pic* uhm....nevermind

I'm not disheartened tho, I will rebuild the vault and bring you all the fashion that Jamaica has to offer one by one all over again. *happy dance* Every now and then I'll go back into my picture archives and see if I can find anything worth reposting...today, I give you this fabulous white ensemble worn to the always fashionable Altitude party. Girl, you better WORK!

Balance your shoes with your outfit

Over the weekend I saw some fashion show or the other on local TV and I said to myself...there's obviously no shoe stylist on this set. Apparently it was a model competition so I guess the girls were left to fend for themselves where shoes were concerned. BUT, they were showing off pieces by local and international designers, so why wasn't there proper styling?

The proper shoe and accessories is so important when showing off a design, or even when you're just stepping out for that matter. If you're wearing a fabulous dress with a bad shoe, your whole look is thrown off. Its very important to balance your clothes with your shoe. A dainty dress will need a dainty shoe, a rugged outfit a rugged shoe, a tailored outfit a tailored shoe and so on and so forth. Mixing the type is also necessary, a wow shoe to add pizazz to a simple outfit or a simple shoe to let a fabulous dress shine.

If you only have one pair of black shoes, it should never be something as heavy as gladiator heels, which I saw a lot of these girls wearing on the runway. Gladiator shoes do not go with everything. Your first pair of black heels should be a classic pump or a classy, strappy sandal as those are the safest options. Then again movie stars with million dollar budgets and stylists at their beck and call still can't quite get the combination right, so maybe I shouldn't be so  hard on these girls. But shame on the producers for not having shoe stylists available.

Anyway I started visiting my favourite fashion blogs for examples to show and I didn't have to go far. Red Carpet Fashion featured J. Lo in this horrid outfit as soon as I clicked over....

Anuna by Tami and Lubica

I was excited when I heard that Tami Chynn and Lubica would be coming together to put out a line because I've always loved Lubica's dresses and Tami does have a good fashion sense...whether that's all her or a stylist you never know but she's always put together in my book. I was even more excited when Lubica said in a recent interview that there would be pieces in the line that those of the "fluffy" persuasion can wear 'cause well, you know...I'm still battling the baby bulge. However.............I've been disappointed. The line itself is fabulous, I do wish I could don a piece or few...but I see one, maybe two pieces that would work on me. :(

The line is mainly made with a jersey cotton blend which is an extremly cool and comfortable material to wear but is very unforgiving to bulges and muffin tops. I stay very far from jersey in general unless its a loose, flowing piece like the first dress pictured below. I'm wondering if the necklace was added for the photo or is a part of the dress, I really likey!

I still give this line a great thumbs up, if you've got the body, flaunt it! I'm a fan of the pant pieces they have and the gold, brown and khaki colour block dress, fiyah. However, lets keep it real, this line aint for the fluffynistas out there. Not this one anyway...... The rest of the line can be viewed at http://www.lubica.com/
